I wrote this while looking at the city of Seattle from Alki beach. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the city? This pretty much sums up what I was thinking at the time.
Driftwood floats on alkaline waters
surrounded by poison sand
a city floats in the distance
like some broken promise land
the people there have no eyes
and they don't have any ears
they'll continue living there for 9000 years
They lock themselves in concrete coffins
that stand a mile high
they slave away their lives
I'll bet you wonder why
the watchers tell them when to eat
and when to leave or stay
they go about their business
they know no other way
If you try and walk amongst them
they will try and gain your mind
they'll temp you with their vision
they'll think their being kind
the game they play they play for keeps
no mater how hard you cry
they'll do to you what they did to me
they'll take you with their lie
Don't trust the ones that talk to you
they can't know who you are
you've got to try and hide yourself
if you run you wont get far
this place is a toxic garden
it's no place to reside
this city on the water will consume you from inside
